Holly Hunter was an American actor who was famous in the film Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes and awards, among them the Oscar for her film Piano. The successful actress began her career in acting by performing on stage, with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Acting has always been her obsession. In fifth grade, she was cast as Helen Keller in an original play. Following a bout of mumps, she went deaf in one of the sides of her ears. This didn't stop her from pursuing her dream to pursue a career as an actress. While in college, she took classes in theatre as well as later moving from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to New York City in pursuit of her dreams. In a chance encounter she was stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart that made Hunter's debut. As she relocated into Los Angeles, Hunter tried to get film roles. An supporting role was secured for her in Swing Shift. Her professional career spans over thirty years and she's appeared in many TV movies as well as series and films. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
